Sirsa farmer’s innovation earns ‘Millennium Farmer of India’ award

Ajay Kumar, a young dairy entrepreneur and farmer from Nathusari Chopta in Sirsa district, has been honoured with the ‘Millennium Farmer of India Award’ by ‘Krishi Jagran’ for his success in transforming farm products into value-added dairy goods. His work has also served as an inspiration for other farmers to explore agri-based enterprises.

Kumar, a resident of Jodkian village and the owner of AKC Foods, was selected from a pool of farmers nationwide. He received the award during a ceremony held on Sunday in New Delhi. This recognition highlights his achievements in producing ghee, sweets, and other dairy products from milk, significantly boosting his income.

Speaking about his work, Kumar explained that he has modernised his family farm by combining traditional crop farming with dairy production. In addition to cultivating his fields, he has expanded into processing dairy into market-ready products. He believes this shift has stabilised his earnings and reduced his reliance on traditional crop sales.

Kumar said that he hoped that his success story would inspire more young farmers to explore modern farming techniques and embrace agri-entrepreneurship.
