Sirsa police arrest two with 2.7kg opium, car seized
Sirsa police, acting on a secret tip-off, arrested two men involved in opium smuggling on Monday and recovered 2 kg 696 grams of opium along with a Swift Dzire car.
DSP Sirsa Adarshdeep Singh informed that ASI Sumit Kumar and his CIA Sirsa team were stationed near NH-9 Ding Mor when they received a tip-off that two suspects Sumit Kumar from Siwani and Rajesh Kumar from Hanumangarh, currently residing in Siwani were heading towards Sirsa with a large quantity of opium in their car.
A ‘naka’ was set up immediately and soon the car was intercepted.
In the presence of DSP Raj Singh, the vehicle was searched and a polythene bag containing 2.696 kg of opium was found hidden in the dashboard. Both the opium and the car were seized, the DSP added.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Ding Police Station.
CIA Sirsa in-charge SI Prem Kumar said the accused will be produced in court and police remand will be sought for detailed interrogation to trace the entire supply network and other people involved in the drug trade.
