Sirsa Police arrested a man from Jaipur for allegedly duping a local of Rs 33 lakh through a fake stock market investment scheme. The accused lured the victim, Devendra Singh, a resident of Sector 20 here, into the trap by promising high profits in stock trading via the Telegram application.
The accused was identified as Rangalal Meena of Rooppura village in Jaipur district. According to reports, the cybercriminal contacted Devendra through Telegram, convincing him to invest money in stock trading. After transferring around Rs 33 lakh, Devendra realised he had been scammed and reported the matter to the police.
During the investigation, the police team traced crucial leads, which led to the arrest of the accused from Jaipur. The police are now working to recover the duped amount and the mobile phone used in the fraud.
Sirsa Superintendent of Police Vikrant Bhushan stated that further investigation was underway, and any individuals involved in the fraud network would face legal action. The arrested accused will be presented before the court soon, he said.
