Sirsa university holds training workshop on new criminal laws

The Department of Law at Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa, in collaboration with the Fatehabad Police, organised a practical training workshop on India’s newly introduced criminal laws.

The workshop, held on Wednesday, saw the participation of Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables and Constables from various police stations in Fatehabad. Law students delivered presentations on key legislative reforms, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. The programme was coordinated by Assistant Professor Dr Vikas Poonia.

Head of Department Prof Umed Singh urged participants to uphold human values in the discharge of their duties, while Dr Amit Sangwan underlined the importance of media, law and policing in society. Sub-Inspector Mandeep shared practical field experiences to help bridge the gap between theory and real-world policing.

The session witnessed participation from 26 police officers and nearly 100 students, fostering a closer academic–practical connection.
