Sirsa welcomes new judge as case backlog tops 47K

Sirsa’s newly appointed District and Sessions Judge, Puneesh Jindia, was formally welcomed at a ceremony hosted by the District Bar Association. The event, held at the Bar Association office, drew enthusiastic participation from legal professionals and judicial officers.

Bar Association spokesperson Advocate Mohan Lal said the association’s secretary, Hardeep Singh Sidhu, extended warm greetings to those present. In his address, Judge Jindia expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in Sirsa, which he described as a city rich in spiritual and cultural heritage. He pledged full dedication to his role, emphasising that timely justice, particularly for victims, would remain his foremost priority.

He also called upon advocates to lead in supporting the poor and underprivileged, urging the legal fraternity to ensure justice is accessible to all.

Following his address, Bar Association president Chaudhary Gangaram Dhaka praised the reputation of the Sirsa Bar and Bench. He expressed confidence that under Judge Jindia’s leadership, cooperation between the Bar and the judiciary would further strengthen the efficiency and dignity of the courts.

Judge Jindia’s resolve for swift justice comes at a crucial time for Sirsa’s judicial system. According to the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), the district is grappling with a mounting backlog of cases.
