Six-day online faculty development programme begins at NIT

Kurukshetra, January 13

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (NITKKR), inaugurated a six-day AICTE-ATAL Academy sponsored online Faculty Development Programme (eFDP) on “3D printing for biomedical applications: Shaping the future of healthcare in industry 4.0” (3DPBA-25) on Monday.

The event was inaugurated by Prof Hari Singh, head of the department of mechanical engineering, NIT, Kurukshetra.

Prof Hari Singh while addressing the participants from across the country, emphasised the importance of such initiatives. With over 600 participants registered, and representing more than 25 states nationwide, Prof Singh encouraged the department to host similar programmes in future to foster collaborative academic and research endeavours, highlighting the significance of these skills in driving national progress and development.

Prof Mustafizur Rahman, ex-professor at National University of Singapore highlighted how the objectives of the eFDP aimed at equipping participants with foundational knowledge of additive manufacturing and its biomedical applications in the Industry 4.0 era.

A spokesman of NIT. Kurukshetra, said the eFDP was designed at imparting knowledge and skills in key areas such as additive manufacturing, 3D bioprinting technologies, converting CT scans to STL models, STL file repair, tissue engineering, and pre-surgical planning using 3D printing. Prominent researchers, academicians, and industrial experts were scheduled to deliver technical sessions during the six-day event.

Prof Ramesh Singh, University of Malaya-Malaysia; Prof P K Jain, IIITDM-Jabalpur; Prof A M Kuthe, VNIT-Nagpur; Dr Narendra Kumar, NIT-Jalandhar; Dr Mohit Tyagi, PEC,Chandigarh; Dr Sandeep Dahake, Piyush Ukey, and Abhijeet Raut will cover a wide range of topics, enriching participants with cutting-edge knowledge and practical insights into 3D printing for biomedical applications.
