Art is not merely a reflection of society, but a medium through which one can shape and influence it, said professor Sanjiv Sharma, registrar of Kurukshetra University.
He was speaking on the inaugural session of a six-day printmaking camp series “Mudran Kriti-Uttar’ organised by the department of fine arts, Kurukshetra University, in collaboration with Hina Bhatt Art Ventures, Pune.
Sharma, emphasised the importance of such initiatives in nurturing creative expression and fostering an environment conducive to artistic growth. He said the event would help the students of the university in a big way and more such events would be organised in the coming days.
Director of Hina Bhatt Art Ventures, Hina Bhatt acknowledged the significance of this collaborative endeavour. She said printmaking was a medium that challenges the artist to think beyond the conventional to experiment and to innovate.
The chairperson, department of fine arts, Dr Gurcharan Singh, emphasised the importance of such activities in the academic calendar, highlighting how they contributed to the holistic development of the students. Prof Ram Viranjan, former chairperson of the department of fine arts, said this camp was not just an event but a culmination of the department’s long-standing commitment to fostering artistic excellence.
Many artists, including Anand Moy Banerjee, Sushant Guha, Dattatrey Apte, Kavita Nayar, and Moti Zharotia from New Delhi, Rajan Fulari from Sonipat, Mahesh Prajapati from Chandigarh, Rakesh Bani from Kurukshetra, Rajesh Kalsi from Punjab, Ishu Jindal from Karnal, Tsering Negi from Himachal Pradesh and Deva Sharma from Jammu were present during the inaugural session.
