Hisar, February 21

Activists of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and various khap panchayats in Jind district started a pucca morcha outside the mini secretariat in Uchana subdivision of Jind district this evening.

Farmer leader Azad Palwa said they had taken a decision to start the pucca morcha yesterday. Condemning the violence at the border, which led to the death of a young farmer at the Khanauri-Data Singh Wala border, he said the police had been trying to suppress the voice of farmers.

“The government has shown a dictatorial attitude at the border. We have put up a pucca morcha and will block one side of the highway. We will abide by the decision and directions of the SKM, as a general body meeting is scheduled to be held tomorrow to chalk out the further course of action,” he said.

The government had resorted to “gundagardi” as the police have been blocking the highway and shutting down Internet facilities.

In Hisar district, farmer leader Suresh Koth informed that they had been sitting on a pucca morcha at Kheri Chopta in Hisar district. “We have decided to march to the Khanauri-Data Singh Wala border on February 23. The agitation has our full support,” he said.

Admn reviews security measures

The administration of Sirsa, Fatehabad and Hisar districts have reviewed the security arrangements in view of the farmers’ protest at the Punjab borders on Wednesday. Sirsa SP Vikrant Bhushan led a flag march of the police and paramilitary forces at Badagurha and Rori areas adjoining Punjab borders. In Hisar, DC Uttam Singh and SP Mohit Handa took stock of security arrangements at Uklana area.

Internet ban extended till Feb 23

Due to farmers agitation, the Haryana Government has extended internet ban n seven districts of Ambala,Kurukshetra,KaithalJind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa, till midnight of February 23.
