Sonepat law varsity hosts workshop on self-awareness
Highlights importance of safe spaces where people can express thoughts without fear of judgement
Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University here organised a workshop on the theme ‘self-identity, values and self-awareness’.
The purpose of the workshop was to help students better understand their personalities and various aspects of life, enhance self-sensitivity and strengthen their mental and emotional development.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Devinder Singh and Registrar Prof Ashutosh Mishra interacted with the students, emphasising the importance of the workshop. “To achieve success in society, self-awareness and values are crucial. Workshops like these assist students in building a strong foundation for their future,” the V-C added.
The keynote speaker of the workshop, Dr Meenakshi Seharawat, engaged in an interactive session with the students. She elaborated on the various dimensions of self-awareness and personality development.
Dr Seharawat emphasised that self-knowledge and emotional sensitivity could bring about meaningful change in one’s life. She encouraged students to identify their core values and base their life decisions on them.
Additionally, she highlighted the importance of mental health and self-worth and shared practical suggestions on nurturing both. She motivated students to maintain a positive inner dialogue and prioritise their mental well-being.
During the workshop, Dr Seharawat openly interacted with the students and shared strategies to overcome life’s challenges. She provided insights on boosting self-confidence, managing stress and empowering one’s mental state. She stressed that self-reliance and value-based living were essential for bringing positive change in society.
Safe environment
The workshop fostered a safe and open space where students felt free to express their thoughts without fear or hesitation. The dialogue took place through informal discussions, small group interactions and Q&A sessions.
Shared experiences
Students shared personal experiences and life challenges, including self-doubt, social pressure and value conflicts. Through these conversations, those present articulated the realisation that everyone was fighting their own battles—a realisation that nurtured empathy and emotional sensitivity.
Diverse perspectives
It became evident during the discussions that there are multiple ways to approach a single subject. While some linked self-awareness with meditation and mindfulness, others saw participating in social work as a path to self-understanding. This exchange fostered diversity of thought and tolerance among students.
Ethical dilemmas
Some students raised questions around moral dilemmas—how to choose between right and wrong when under social or family pressure. Group discussions focused on value-based decision-making processes to address such situations.
From dialogue to resolution
The conversations did not stop at the exchange of ideas—many students started discovering solutions to their internal stress, self-doubt and identity crises. The dialogue helped them embrace self-acceptance and develop empath.
