Songs should foster patriotism, cultural values: Guv
Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya emphasised that songs should foster patriotism, cultural values and social harmony, rather than promote violence or mislead the youth. He stated that music should be a medium of cultural enrichment and national pride, encouraging songs that uphold moral values instead of those that merely entertain or provoke aggression.
“Music should be a medium of cultural enrichment and national pride. Artists and the public should encourage songs that uphold moral values instead of those that merely entertain or provoke aggression. Songs should inspire good character and instill ethics in society,” Governor Dattatreya remarked while responding to a question on the rising trend of gun culture in music. He was in Karnal to chair the 25th foundation day program of VUMM Jain Public School.
Praising VUMM Jain Public School for its 25 years of successful educational service, Governor Dattatreya commended the institution for its commitment to quality education, health and animal welfare. He also appreciated the school’s initiative to support meritorious students by offering fee concessions.
“This institution is setting an example by integrating academic excellence with social responsibility. Providing fee waivers to deserving students is truly commendable,” he noted.
The Governor also highlighted the importance of education and women’s empowerment. He expressed admiration for the academic achievements of girls, stating, “The more women progress, the stronger our nation becomes.” He lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign, which aims to empower women through education. Dattatreya also mentioned initiatives like ‘Lakhpati Didi’ and ‘Drone Didi’, which provide financial independence and technological training to women, enabling them to achieve self-reliance and economic stability.
Further, Governor Dattatreya emphasised that education is not solely about securing employment but also about building strong character. He praised the Haryana government for implementing the New Education Policy (NEP) 2025, focusing on holistic skill development and moral education.
India’s rapid progress and its emerging position as a leading global power were also highlighted by the Governor, who credited the youth for their significant role in this growth. He stressed the importance of education and skill development for sustaining the nation’s progress, noting that acquiring modern skills not only helps young people secure jobs but also empowers them to establish successful start-ups, thereby contributing to India’s economic strength.
Governor Dattatreya extended his best wishes to the people of Haryana on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri and the Hindu New Year. He also paid tribute to RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar on his birth anniversary, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to the nation.
