“You should not pick up the call from an unknown number. If anyone has received a call and has talked to a criminal/miscreant, you should immediately inform the police. You should get that number blocked,” said SP.

He exhorted the liquor contractors to participate in the auction of liquor vends instead of leaving their work/business due the fear of criminals.

As per available information, there are 55 liquor zones in Yamunanagar district, which are scheduled to be auctioned for financial year 2025-26 on May 31.

An unidentified miscreant had opened 12 rounds of fire at a liquor shop, situated on Govindpur road in Yamunanagar on May 27.

Two employees were present at the liquor shop at the time of the incident and they had a narrow escape.

Sources said the firing incident might be the reason for a business rivalry also.
