Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan on Sunday emphasised the collective responsibility for supporting underprivileged children. He exhorted community members to come forward for their support. He was chairing a programme organised to mark the 25th foundation day of MDD Bal Bhawan, a childcare institution (CCI).

Addressing the gathering during the programme on the CCI premises on Phoosgarh Road, the Assembly Speaker highlighted that every child had the right to education. “While the government plays a major role in supporting these children, it is equally the society’s duty to step forward and aid such children,” he said.

Kalyan lauded the relentless efforts of MDD Bal Bhawan over the past quarter-century in prioritising children’s welfare despite challenging circumstances. He commended the current government’s initiatives aimed at uplifting the marginalised sections of society.

PR Nath, the director of MDD Bal Bhawan, delivered a PowerPoint presentation on the journey of the CCI. Established in 1999, the institution now accommodates 95 children who receive education from various city institutions. Beyond academics, the organisation focuses on holistic development through skill-building initiatives such as computer training, sewing classes, beauty parlour courses, yoga, dance, and singing. Nath acknowledged the unwavering support of local social organisations and the government in sustaining these programmes.
