In Dubarki Par, he laid the foundation for a 3,500-ft road from Nagar Khera to the Yamuna embankment, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.19 crore under the supervision of the Panchayati Raj Department.

The road is expected to be completed in a year.

He also laid the foundation stone of a community centre, which will include a hall, toilets, and a boundary wall, at a cost of Rs 65 lakh.

In Subhri village, Kalyan laid the foundation stones for an ayurvedic dispensary boundary wall and a hall for women of self-help groups (SHGs), at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh and Rs 8 lakh, respectively. Both projects are slated to be completed in three months.

Addressing the gathering, the Speaker said he was committed to building women’s community centres (chaupals) in every village by December 2026.

“These spaces will empower women by providing a platform for meetings and discussions on various issues,” he added.

Kalyan said a training centre for women of SHGs was already under construction at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore on a one-acre plot provided by the village panchayat in Gharaunda. The centre would be completed in about 18 months, and would help SHG members receive market-oriented training to increase their incomes, he added. Kalyan said a proposal for a chaupal for the SC community in Subhri village had been approved at a cost of Rs 15 lakh.

“Development projects that were delayed during the pandemic are now being fast-tracked,” he added, stating that his doors were open for the public round-the-clock.

Earlier in the day, Kalyan held a public grievance redressal meeting at the Sugar Mill guest house, where he listened to various complaints from citizens and directed officials to resolve them promptly.

‘Haryana deserves its water share'

Speaking to mediapersons, he said, “Interacting directly with the public brings to light many new issues, some of which are resolved on the spot, while others are incorporated into future planning.”

When asked about the Haryana-Punjab water dispute, he said the Jal Shakti Union Minister had called a meeting to discuss the issue.

“Haryana deserves its rightful share of water,” he said firmly. He added that Yamuna embankments had been strengthened to protect the region from potential floods, stating that he recently visited the site to inspect ongoing works.
