The Chief Secretary assured that all matters raised during the meeting would be addressed promptly and appropriate directions would be issued to the relevant officials.

The Speaker stressed the importance of receiving draft bills from government departments within the prescribed time frame, emphasising that delays hinder legislators’ ability to study the drafts thoroughly. “Bills should be passed only after meaningful discussions by the legislators,” he said.

He also highlighted the need for timely responses to issues raised by Assembly committees. “Assembly committees are a microcosm of the House and their proceedings should be taken seriously,” he said.

The meeting also discussed delays in granting travel expense approvals for Assembly committee study tours. The Speaker pointed out that delays in legislative tasks adversely affect legislators and legislative work and called for improved coordination between departments and the Assembly Secretariat.
