Hisar: A special lecture on the topic “Women’s contribution to sustainable development’ was organised by Women Cell of the Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar, at Ch Ranbir Singh Auditorium of the university. Vice-Chancellor Tankeshwar Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion. Prof Sunita Srivastava, Department of Physics, was the key note speaker. The VC said the society and nation cannot achieve sustainable development without women’s participation in all the sectors of economy.

Cultural event ‘Aarohan’ organised

Karnal: Gita Niketan Awasiya Vidyalaya here organised a cultural programme namely Aarohan-The ascent, which means to ascend steadily towards desired goal with strong willpower and unfiltered faith. The inception of the event was marked with lighting of lamp by chief guest, Surender Attri, Upadhyaksh Vidya Bharti Uttar Kshetra. Principal Narayan Singh introduced the chief guest to the spectators. To make students spiritually and intellectually sound a ‘Shiva stuti’ performance was presented by a group of students. Prizes were distributed to academic achievers and winners of different co-curricular activities and sports by the chief guest and other guests.

NCC training camp at sonepat school

Karnal: As many as 21 NCC students of Dyal Singh Public School, Panipat, participated in NCC camp at Rishikul Vidhypeeth School, Sonepat. The camp was organised by Haryana NCC Navy Wing. A total of 14 schools of state participated in the camp. Students learnt many skills and drills at the camp. They participated in rifle shooting, Inter-school volleyball competition, cultural activities and various other drills. Brigadier Vijay Mehta, Colonel Mukesh Hooda and camp commandant Lieutenant Ajay Prurohit trained these students. Students also appeared in ‘NCC A certificate exams’ under the supervision of Ajay Mehta Rajpurohit. Principal of the school Vinita Kumar Tomar and Headmistress Neelam Vats congratulated the students.

MDU organises workshop

Sonepat: A workshop on “modern gastronomy techniques” was organised at Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (IHTM), at MD University, Rohtak. Michelin Star Chef, Domnique Fieux was the resource person, who is working as executive chef at Buena Visa, Garden Spa Resort, a five star resort in Jaipur. Dr Sandeep Malik, Director IHTM, welcomed the resource person and presented him a memento. He further highlighted the theme of the workshop. Prof Raj Kumar, Dean faculty of management sciences highlighted the importance of such workshops.

GMN students shine at ‘Sur-Tarang’

Ambala: The students of GMN College, Ambala Cantt, created history at the national-level by winning first and third prizes at the national-level classical music competition ‘Sur-Tarang’ organised by the Department of Music and Dance, Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra. Rabnoor of Music Department of GMN College got first prize in Kishore classical vocal singing competition and Rahul got third prize in senior instrumental sitar category. Principal Dr Rajpal Singh congratulated the winners. The management of GMN College honoured Rabnoor and Rahul for their achievement.
