Haryana Minister of State for Youth Empowerment and Sports Gaurav Gautam today visited the War Heroes Memorial Stadium in Ambala Cantonment and inquired about the facilities being provided at the stadium.

Speaking to mediapersons, the minister said, “The government has been providing the best possible facilities to the sportspersons. To check the stadium, facilities and to further improve the facilities, we decided to visit the stadium here. Some issues related to maintenance have come to light and directions have been issued to the departments concerned to improve the situation and ensure better maintenance. National and international level games will be organised here in Ambala in the coming future.”

During the visit, the minister visited the gymnastics hall, all-weather swimming pool and the football stadium, and inquired about the facilities being provided to the players. He also took detailed information from the District Sports Officer about the players, practice sessions, nurseries being run, and the coaches.

“The technical hurdles related to maintenance will be removed so that the players can get better facilities. A case related to the stadium is also pending in the court, which is also being pursued. Instructions have been given to the departments concerned to complete the pending work as soon as possible”, he added.

Officials from the Sports Department and PWD (B&R) were also present.
