Suman Saini, wife of caretaker CM Nayab Singh, campaigns for him in Kurukshetra.

As Congress Mullana Assembly candidate Puja Chaudhry, who is contesting her first election, is locked in a direct contest with senior BJP leader Santosh Sarwan, Puja’s husband and Ambala MP Varun Chaudhry, is leading the campaign from the front and holding public meetings and campaigning intensively along with her.

In 2019 Assembly election, the Mullana Assembly seat of Ambala was won by Varun Chaudhry, son of veteran Congress leader Phool Chand Mullana, but in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, he contested and became the Ambala MP.

While addressing the gatherings, Puja Chaudhry focuses on issues such as unemployment, drug menace, crime, and law and order situation, and on the guarantees given by the Congress party.

“She is contesting for the first time but she used to help me in my elections and has all the experience. Puja was selected by the party because people of the Mullana Assembly segment wanted her to be the party candidate and even surveys were conducted by the party. We have been getting a good response from all sections of society and the Congress party is going to win the election with a big margin,” said MP Varun Chaudhry, while speaking to The Tribune.

He said, “The BJP government has failed to fulfil its promises. Schools were closed, youths are sitting jobless, illegal liquor vends were opened in the villages and as a result a number of people also died after consuming spurious liquor and various public welfare schemes were stopped. Because of the anti-poor and anti-farmer polices of the government, the people have decided to oust this government.”

Similarly, as caretaker CM Nayab Singh Saini has been busy campaigning and attending rallies for other candidates across the state, his wife Suman Saini is leading the campaign in the Ladwa Assembly segment of Kurukshetra. Nayab Saini holds events in the constituency early in the morning and later in the evening after completing programmes in other segments.

During her Jan Sampark programmes, Suman Saini is holding 10 to 15 programmes a day, focusing on personal contacts and highlights the work done by the BJP government at the Centre and state. She appeals voters to form a double-engine government in the state to ensure smooth implementation of schemes and welfare policies.

Suman Saini said, “We have been appealing to the people of Ladwa to vote for the BJP because people have the opportunity to get the status of the CM city for Ladwa and give a boost to the developmental works in the urban and rural areas of the segment. The government has introduced a number of welfare schemes for the people of Haryana and we are confident that they will form the BJP government for the third time in the state.”
