Stage set for state-level event in Kurukshetra

The stage is all set for the state-level International Yoga Day celebrations, to be held in Kurukshetra on Saturday.

Over one lakh people are expected to participate and perform yoga in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and yoga guru Ramdev at Brahma Sarovar and the Mela ground.

Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh said all arrangements had been made for the event.

The Brahma Sarovar had been divided into 64 sectors, while the Mela ground had been divided into 37 sectors, she added, stating that the duties of policemen, nodal officers, volunteers, and yoga instructors had been assigned in each sector.

As many as 31 LED screens (20 at Brahma Sarovar and 11 at the Mela ground) have been installed for participants.

About 1,000 people will perform yoga in each sector.

The Deputy Commissioner said, on June 21, a world record would be registered in the Guinness World Records, for which the district administration had already applied.

The district administration has appealed to the people of Kurukshetra to ensure maximum participation in the event.

The DC said about 37,000 school students and staff members would participate in the programme; around 40,000 participants would represent Patanjali Yoga Peeth and Haryana Yog Aayog; and about 25,000 people would represent various institutions of the city. A temporary arrangement of 100 mobile toilets has been made at the event. Around 20 permanent toilets are also located around various ghats of the Brahma Sarovar complex.

Arrangements for the live telecast of the event have been made.

The Deputy Commissioner, along with district officials, visited the venue to check preparations, and issued directions to the officials.

All arrangements have been made for traffic management, and sufficient parking spaces have been marked for visitors.
