Ambala, September 20
As paddy arrival has already started at the grain markets, the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni) has appealed to the Haryana Government for an early start to its procurement.
In a letter sent to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the union has stated that the farmers these days use hybrid seeds and the crop matures in 80-90 days, hence the government should start paddy’s early procurement.
Meanwhile, District Food and Civil Supplies Controller Rajeshwar Moudgil has said that the procurement will start from September 25 and directions have been issued to the grain market officials concerned to ensure that the farmers don’t face any inconvenience in this regard.
Moudgil said the Deputy Commissioner had also told officials to ensure that stocks were lifted on time and there was no issue of space crunch.
Rakesh Bains, spokesman of the union, also demanded that the “Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal” should be opened again for the registration as the data of many farmers had failed to get registered on the portal.
Farmers were also expecting a higher production this year and the government should increase the prescribed per acre productivity of paddy to 35 quintals, he added.
As per information, nearly 22,000 quintals of paddy stock had arrived at the Ambala Cantonment grain market so far.
