The state government has engaged ‘bhajan mandalis’ to spread awareness about welfare schemes in villages through folk art forms.
Samadhan camps
- At the events, folk artistes inform villagers about samadhan camps, which are organised at the district and subdivisional levels to address their concerns
- Residents are told to submit written complaints at these camps if they face any issue pertaining to government schemes
Guidelines in this regard were issued by Department of Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Director-General Mandeep Brar.
As part of the campaign, which is being run from July 1 to July 31, bhajan troupes go to several villages of the state, publicising various welfare programmes and policies of the state government through folk song and dance. The members of these bhajan mandalis received training for the campaign by the department.
These troupes sing songs of development, presenting public welfare policies, achievements and announcements of the government through a folk lens.
“People are being provided information about public welfare policies and programmes of the government through cultural programmes in villages of the district. The members of the ‘bhajan mandalis’ are also planting saplings and spreading awareness about staying away from drugs and other social evils,” said Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar.
The DC appealed to all residents of the district to participate in the campaign so that they could learn about welfare schemes.
“The troupes are spreading awareness about government schemes, policies and programmes such as the Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana, Corruption-Free Haryana, Antyodaya Saral, Family Identity Card and Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana,” Kumar added, stating that beneficiaries would also learn how to avail the benefits of these schemes through the performances.
