State Olympic body appoints Grover as chef de mission for National Games
Former Cooperative Minister and senior BJP leader, Manish Kumar Grover, has been appointed as the Haryana contingent's chef de mission (CDM) by the Haryana Olympic Association for the 38th National Games, which will be held in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14.
The appointment orders were issued by the association's administrator, Justice HS Bhalla, former Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, recently. Alongside Grover, former MLAs Aseem Goyal and Subhash Sudha, Sunny Dhul have been appointed as Deputy CDMs, while Rajpal Singh Ahluwalia and Sandeep Prashar have been assigned the responsibility of contingent assistants.
“Around 1,000 players and coaches will represent Haryana at the games. Previously, Grover held the same responsibility during the National Games held in Goa and Gujarat, where Haryana athletes performed exceptionally well. In Goa, Haryana secured third place, winning 62 gold, 54 silver, and 73 bronze medals,” said a spokesman for Manish Grover.
In a press note issued here, Grover stated that Haryana's athletes continued to excel at both national and international levels.
“The sports policies of both the Central and state governments are playing a vital role in promoting sports. The state government has not only increased the cash prizes for medal winners but has also recruited new coaches, built new stadiums, and strengthened the sports infrastructure,” said Grover.
