State SAD leaders quit over sacking of jathedars
A meeting of SAD Haryana members was held at Gurudwara Neem Sahib, Kaithal, under the chairmanship of Sharanjeet Singh Sotha, president of SAD Haryana. The members condemned the decision to terminate the services of Giani Raghbir Singh as Akal Takht jathedar, Giani Sultan Singh from Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, and jathedar Harpreet Singh from their respective posts.
Expressing their outrage over the decision, Sharanjeet Singh Sotha, along with other leaders, including Sukhbir Singh Mandi, Pirthipal Singh, Kuldeep Singh Cheema, Preetam Singh Dhillon, Gurmeet Singh Punia, and Sucha Singh, announced their resignation from all positions within the party. They criticised the SAD, calling it a party controlled by a single family.
The president condemned the decision as dictatorial. The leaders made it clear that while they remained committed to Akali ideology, they could not support wrongful decisions. During the meeting, a resolution was passed to raise a strong voice against the SGPC’s decision and to formulate a future strategy in line with the sentiments of the Sikh community.
They also emphasised that the struggle would continue to safeguard Sikh principles and democratic values.
