Karnal, March 6
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said that the government had fixed a target to make 3 lakh ‘Lakhpati Didi’ in the state. Besides, 5,000 women would be given drone training.
In the first phase, 500 self-help groups (SHGs) had been selected and drone training would be imparted to 10 women. Under the programme, 102 women had already been trained. “Our goal is to make 3 lakh women ‘Lakhpati’, and we will create around 5,000 ‘drone didis’ in Haryana,” he said.
The CM was chairing a state-level ‘Lakhpati Didi’ programme at the grain market. Live address of PM Narendra Modi from West Bengal was also aired. He said the Union government had set a target to make 3 crore women ‘Lakhpatis Didi’ across the country.
“When our women become ‘Lakhpati Didi’, they will support the entire family as a mother, sister, wife etc.,” said Khattar. The programme was being organised at 132 places in the state.
The CM further said nearly 55,000 SHGs had been formed, in which about 6 lakh women were associated. To sell their products, Sanjha Bazar had been started. One Sanjha Bazar has been started in Karnal and another would be started in Fatehabad.
Talking about the steps being taken by the government for the welfare of women, he said they were going to start an interest-free loan.
