Sonepat, July 29

A matter of demanding Rs 5 lakh extortion from a police personnel, posted in the special task force (STF), in the name of notorious gangster Goldy Brar has come to light.

The policeman reportedly received calls from Pakistan and Dubai-based virtual phone numbers.

Following the complaint, the Sector 27 police registered a case against unknown persons under Sections 387 and 506 of the IPC and began a probe into the matter.

Amit Kumar of Lalheri village in Gannaur, in his complaint to the Sector 27 police, said he had been receiving WhatsApp call, voice messages, and messages from Dubai and Pakistan-based virtual numbers since July 26. He blocked the number, following which they started calling him from other numbers.

Notably, Amit was the team member of the STF which recently arrested Praveen, alias PK, of Jhajjar district, a member of the Goldy Brar gang, from the outer road of Sector 15 five days ago.
