Stilt parking must for 2-plus floors registered separately in Haryana
To check parking chaos in residential areas, the Nayab Singh Saini government has approved a significant amendment to the Haryana Building Code. Now, stilt parking has been made mandatory for more than two floors registered as separate dwelling units across the state.
However, stilt parking will not be required for the construction of up to three floors if the property is registered under one name and used for personal use.
“No such construction of more than two floors, where stilt parking has not been provided in case of a residential plot, shall be allowed to be registered under the Indian Registration Act, 1908 in the future,” said a communication issued by Amit Khatri, Director, Town and Country Planning Department, on January 2.
“However, in the case of construction of four floors on residential plots, stilt parking shall be mandatory, even if the premises are for own use,” the order said. The order will be applicable with prospective effect for the approval of the building plans for all new constructions or on the plots proposed to be reconstructed. While the amendment has been approved by the state government, objections/ suggestions have been invited from the public till February 1 for final notification.
An official said the amendment had been approved to tackle parking problems in residential areas after the notification of the stilt-plus-four policy for the state.
