Mayor Suman Bahamani laid the foundation stone of development works worth Rs 30.79 lakh in Ward 17 of Yamunanagar on Thursday.
The foundation stone was laid in the presence of Municipal Engineer Surender Dahiya, Municipal Councillor Dixit Dhiman and BJP Mandal President Shubham Rana.
The Mayor directed the officials of the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) to complete all development projects on time, paying special attention to quality of development works.
She said no compromises would be tolerated in quality of development works. She further said the MCYJ would lay an RCC pipeline for drainage in Veena Nagar Camp falling in Ward 17 at a cost of Rs 14.56 lakh.
She said at Nawab Colony of Ward 17, a street and drain would be constructed at a cost of Rs 8.90 lakh.
Similarly, in Shiv Nagar, various streets and storm water lines would be laid at a cost of Rs 7.33 lakh, added the Mayor.
“The foundation stone for all three development projects was laid on Thursday. These development works will provide easy access to thousands of residents and eliminate the problem of waterlogging during rains,” said Mayor Suman Bahmani. She said the government was implementing development projects worth crores of rupees in every ward of the municipal corporation without discrimination.
She said drains, paved roads, paved streets, sewerage systems, storm water drains, underground pipelines, parks, streetlights, community centers, dharamshalas and other development projects were being implemented across the twin cities.
“The MCYJ is carrying out development works worth crores of rupees in the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri. Streets, roads and drains are being constructed in every ward to provide amenities to the residents,” said the Mayor. She said the development projects worth crores of rupees had already been completed and projects worth crores of rupees were underway.
“Tenders have been called for several development projects and some projects are under allotment. Soon the construction work of these projects will also be started,” the Mayor said. She appealed to the citizens of the twin cities that they should cooperate in getting these works done. “Our main objective is to provide facilities to the citizens of every ward of the Municipal Corporation,” the Mayor said.
