Displaying a commendable spirit of public service, and swift coordination, Haryana Police’s Dial 112 Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) came to the rescue of several Common Eligibility Test (CET) candidates, who found themselves stranded, just hours before their exams. Due to the timely action, they were able to reach their centres on time.
Three students—Preeti, Komal, and Aanchal—who were appearing for the first session, contacted Dial 112 when their train was delayed at the Taraori Railway Station, around 25 km from their centre, leaving them anxious about missing the exam in Kurukshetra. Responding promptly, the ERV team contacted them and tracked their location. They reached their centre two minutes before the scheduled entry time.
Aanchal, a resident of Sonepat, said she was travelling to Kurukshetra by train with her father-in-law, Ramesh, to appear for the CET. Their train stopped at Taraori due to some delay, and they were informed that it would not move for some time. She said only 20 minutes were left before the entry time at the centre, and the train was already running 10 minutes late. Distressed, she dialled 112.
Soon after, an emergency vehicle arrived at the station. Preeti and Komal also joined her in the vehicle. The team from Karnal transported them to Kurukshetra, where another Dial-112 vehicle from Kurukshetra was on standby to take them to their respective centres.
Aanchal expressed her gratitude, saying that the government had made thorough arrangements for the candidates. “Thanks to the quick action by the police, we were able to enter the centre just before the cut-off time,” she added.
In another case, a brother and sister travelling from Narwana to Karnal for the exam met with an accident near Hemda village in Karnal district, when their motorcycle skidded off the road. An ERV team immediately rushed to the spot. The injured boy was taken to the Civil Hospital, Karnal, while his sister was dropped at the exam centre without any delay.
“Police teams of ERVs and officials and employees of different departments deployed on duty performed their tasks with dedication and assisted the candidates in reaching their centres,” said Karnal SP Ganga Ram Punia.
In another instance in Kaithal district, a candidate from Pundri made an emergency call in the morning to the police. Kaithal SP Astha Modi personally ensured that the candidate was transported to Karnal in a private vehicle.
In yet another case of Kurukshetra, police personnel Naresh and Rajbir, deployed with Dial-112, said upon receiving an alert via wireless transmission, they reached the bus stand and transported a candidate to the Sector 13 centre. Another vehicle dropped two candidates at their centres.
Earlier, DC Uttam Singh, the SP and Kaithal DC Preeti, along with other senior officials, supervised the arrangements, inspected the centres and reviewed the transport facilities.
