The local municipal authorities as well as the district administration seem indifferent to the difficulties being faced by the residents of Rohtak city in their day-to-day life.
The menace of stray animals, including monkeys, dogs and cattle, has become a nuisance for residents of Rohtak city, but the authorities have failed to find a solution to the problem.
The Municipal Corporation recently completed its tenure, but the pressing concerns of residents are yet to be addressed.
Incidents of residents getting attacked by packs of stray dogs and troops of monkeys roaming freely across the city continue to surface, but the officials concerned are yet to take any action.
“Troops of monkeys often enter houses, damage goods, scare and even attack residents. Stray dogs and cattle have also become a big issue. The issue has been highlighted time and again by the media, but no concrete action has been taken by the authorities concerned,” says Monica, a housewife.
Former Rohtak Mayor Manmohan Goel said many projects had been accomplished during their tenure, but some could not be completed due to lack of funds, requisite approvals, unavailability of contractors and other reasons.
Former councillor Kadam Singh Ahlawat said the issue of menace created by stray animals had been taken up at several House meetings, but no permanent solution could be found.
