Stray cattle causing accidents, damaging crops in Radaur area of Yamunanagar
Stray cattle are causing accidents on roads in Radaur town and damaging crops in fields in villages falling under the Radaur subdivision of Yamunanagar district.
Residents of Radaur town and farmers of this area have urged the government to solve this problem soon.
Rahul Kumar of the town said a large number of stray cattle keep roaming the main Yamunanagar-Radaur-Kurukshetra road in residential and commercial areas of the town.
“It is foggy these days and stray cattle keep roaming on roads all the time. Sometimes, vehicles hit them due to low visibility, causing accidents,” said Rahul Kumar.
He said the authorities of the Radaur Municipal Committee should take some concrete steps to solve this problem.
Farmers Neeraj, Pankaj, Karm Chand, Sulekh Chand, Jaswinder Singh, Dharmendra Singh and Narendra Kumar said the menace was on the rise in the rural areas of the Radaur subdivision of the district.
They said these cattle could be seen devouring crops in their fields.
They further said that they were forced to patrol even on cold nights to protect their crops from stray cattle.
They added that they were also forced to undertake fencing work of their fields by spending thousands of rupees to protect their crops from stray cattle, adding that all farmers could not afford fencing due to financial problems.
“We are very upset as stray cattle are damaging standing wheat and other crops in our fields, causing huge losses to us,” said farmer Neeraj Kumar.
“No step is being taken by the local administration and we are not getting rid of this problem,” added Neeraj Kumar.
