Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sharma said media support and farmer cooperation helped significantly reduce stubble-burning incidents this year. He said awareness drives and better coordination with the farmers improved residue management.

Sharma added that the media could play a key role in spreading awareness against drug abuse, noting that the administration conducted regular checks at medical stores.

Sirsa Superintendent of Police Deepak Saharan urged the journalists to report sensitively and prioritise factual and positive news. He said strong messaging could motivate drug users to seek help and join de-addiction centres. He also appealed to the farmers to install reflectors on tractor-trailers during winter fog to prevent accidents.

Dabwali SP Nikita Khattar said drug trafficking in border areas was a deep-rooted social problem that destroyed families. She urged the media to avoid sensationalism and report on drugs as a serious crime and social issue.
