Rohtak: Student accuses PGI prof of abuse, assault

A student of the master's of dental surgery (MDS) at Rohtak PGIDS has accused a professor at the institute of mental harassment, physical assault and verbal abuse.

The student has submitted a complaint with the PGIDS administration as well as Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, in this regard.

"Dr Ravinder Solanki, my PG guide, has subjected me to continuous harassment, exploitation and recently, physical assault. His repeated threats have left me in a state of mental trauma, even instigating suicidal thoughts," said the complainant who is a third-year PG student.

Acting on his complaint, the UHS authorities have constituted a committee comprising the Dean (PGIMS), UHS Dean (Students Welfare) and the PGIDS Principal to probe the matter.

The institute administration has also written to the local police authorities, seeking necessary action in this regard.

Meanwhile, the supervision work of all postgraduate students of Oral Surgery Department has been withdrawn from Dr Ravinder Solanki following the complaint.

He has also been directed not to come in direct or indirect contact with the aggrieved postgraduate students as a precautionary measure till the outcome of the enquiry.
