A programme was organised at a private school in Narnaul here today to make students, teachers and school bus drivers aware of road safety.

Gaurav Tyagi, Deputy Manager, National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI), said the role of a school bus driver was a highly responsible one as they were entrusted with the safety of not only children but also the school community.

“To ensure that no untoward incidents occur, it is crucial that school bus drivers adhere to traffic rules and undergo regular eye checkups. Negligence can often lead to major accidents, which is why compliance with these safety measures must be ensured under all circumstances,” he added.

He maintained that teachers, too, played a key role in educating students about road safety rules. They needed to work alongside bus drivers to create awareness about the importance of following traffic regulations, he said.
