Students give recycled bags to Yamunanagar MC
Students of Women League Girls Private Industrial Training Institute have turned old clothes into bags under a ‘waste to best’ activity. These were then donated to the Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation.
This was part of a workshop and awareness programme organised by the MC at the institute, held as part of a series of initiatives being conducted by the MC to get the best-possible ranking in Swachh Survekshan.
The programme was organised on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha. It was presided over by Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Pal Yadav.
During the programme, girl students participated in various competitions, promoting the message of cleanliness.
Chief Sanitary Inspector Sunil Dutt and brand ambassador Shashi Gupta made students aware about cleanliness. Dutt exhorted them to separate wet and dry household waste, and only dispose of it in MC vehicles. He also delved into the benefits of rooftop gardening and composting.
He appealed to the general public to not throw garbage in the open, and to avoid using single-use plastic products. During the programme, students submitted their citizen’s feedback responses on the official platform.
Dutt donated compost pits and dustbins to ITI, which were received by coordinator Sucheta Sethi and other staff members.
Dutt honoured the students who made cloth bags with letters of appreciation, and honoured the ITI staff with a memento for their cooperation in the survey. Sushil Kumar, Krishna Rana, Kavita, Babli, Sneha, trainer Gurpreet Kaur, Bala Rani and Nisha Rani were among those present at the event.
