A Haryana Police Sub-Inspector has been dismissed from service for allegedly taking “protection money” from cyber criminals operating illegal call centres in Panchkula. The officer, Satish Kumar, was serving in Jind district at the time of his dismissal.

The disciplinary action was ordered by Jind Superintendent of Police (SP) Kuldeep Singh, following the recommendation of Panchkula Police Commissioner Shibas Kaviraj. SP Singh said the officer’s conduct had undermined the integrity of the police force.

“The Haryana Police uniform stands for honesty, discipline, and service. Any officer who deviates from these principles has no place in the department,” SP Kuldeep Singh said, adding that Jind Police maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption and illegal activities.

According to a police spokesperson, Satish Kumar had joined the Haryana Police as a constable in 2000 and was most recently posted on naka duty under Uchana police station. A case has been registered against him at the Cyber Crime Police Station, under relevant sections of the IT Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Telecommunication Act, and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Investigations revealed that Kumar had been receiving regular payments from cyber fraudsters in exchange for allowing them to operate illegal call centres without police interference. Officials said the evidence clearly established his involvement with criminal elements and a serious breach of departmental discipline.

SP Kuldeep Singh said strict internal vigilance and coordination with cybercrime units had exposed the misconduct. “Such acts bring disrepute to the department and will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he added.

The police said further departmental and legal action will follow based on the ongoing investigation.
