The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a Sub-Inspector, Yashpal for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.

The complainant, a woman, reported her husband, brother and two daughters had been named in an FIR for fraud. The investigation was being handled by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and the investigating officer was Sub-Inspector Yashpal. The complainant said Yashpal demanded a Rs 1 lakh bribe in exchange for removing her family members’ names from the FIR.

The woman said Yashpal had already taken Rs 8 lakh from her. However, he pressured her again, demanding Rs 1 lakh.

A team led by Inspector Dr Nanhi Devi was formed to conduct a raid. They arrested Yashpal at Rajiv Chowk, where he was caught accepting the bribe.

A senior ACB officer confirmed a case had been filed against Yashpal under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Gurugram ACB police station. “The accused is currently being questioned and further investigation is ongoing,” the officer said.
