It is alleged that the said urea was to be supplied illegally to a plywood factory, where it was to be used to prepare glue.

The joint team, on a tip-off, caught a tractor-trailer loaded illegally with agriculture grade urea from near a plywood factory in the area of Khajuri village around 6.30 am today.

The team counted the urea bags in the presence of Bal Mukand Sharma, Quality Control Inspector of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Yamunanagar.

Sharma said the number of bags was 47 and they were to be supplied to the plywood factory illegally.

He said the owner of the bags failed to produce record generated through the point of sale (POS) machine.

A case has been registered at the Jathlana police station.

Plywood factories can use only technical grade urea to prepare glue, but it is more expensive than agriculture grade urea. —
