Haryana Energy, Labour and Transport Minister Anil Vij, who is known for his impromptu stopovers to gather first-hand information about his departments, has ordered a state-wide verification of work receipts of registered workers to detect fake registrations in the Labour Department. The minister’s order came after he sensed a scam in the department to the tune of hundreds of crores.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
