Sirsa has witnessed a significant rise in the cases of theft, attack and snatching. As a result, residents have raised concerns about the safety of their lives and property.
In a recent incident, five thefts were carried out in a day. Of these incidents, a motorcycle was stolen from near the residence of a former Deputy Chief Minister.
In another case, a motorcycle, belonging to the staff of New Life Care Hospital, was stolen. Dr Dinesh Kumar Gizwani said Kamaljeet, one of their staff members, had parked the motorcycle near the hospital.
However, around 8.30 pm, it went missing. Similarly, another motorcycle was stolen from near the residence of former Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala.
In another incident, cash and goods worth thousands of rupees were stolen from Kamboj Electronics. Shop owner Pawan Kumar found out about it the next morning and reported it to the police on Friday. Similarly, a masked man stole Rs 3,500 from a donation box at Lalit Health and Child Care Hospital. The surveillance cameras captured the thief, following which a complaint was filed by Lalit Mohan. Besides, in the city’s posh area, three motorcycle-borne youths snatched a mobile phone from Archana Yadav, a nurse, while she was returning home.
Four gang members land in police net
The police have arrested four members of a gang involved in committing several thefts in Sirsa and the areas coming under the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station. City police station in-charge Satyawan said the arrested individuals, identified as Vipin Kumar, Veer Singh, Gopi and Saganpreet Singh, had admitted that they had committed the crime.
