Within 50 hours of her abduction from Gurgaon Railway Station, a 4-year-old girl was traced and rescued safely from Pilibhit Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh by Haryana Railway Police. The child has since been reunited with her family.

The incident occurred on September 16, when an unidentified man allegedly drugged a passenger at Gurgaon Railway Station and abducted his young daughter. As soon as the case was reported, Railway SP Nitika Gehlot took direct charge of the investigation, directing swift action.

Under the supervision of DSP Rajesh Kumar, 18 raiding parties — each comprising three personnel, cyber experts and officers skilled in CCTV analysis — were formed. Police scanned footage from Gurgaon to Anand Vihar Railway Station and circulated images of the suspect with the help of RPF and Railway Police. Teams were also dispatched to Rajasthan (Kotputli, Alwar) and Uttar Pradesh (Bareilly and Pilibhit).

During the search at Pilibhit Railway Station, the accused, sensing police pressure, abandoned the girl and fled. The child was immediately taken into protection, medically examined and handed over to her family.

Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapur lauded the effort, saying, “The functioning of Railway Police is not limited to discharging duties alone, but it is a living example of humanity and public service. Restoring the smile of an innocent child, reuniting missing children with their parents, or giving new hope to people standing on the edge of despair — these efforts are the strongest bonds that connect police with the public.”

Police said GRP Haryana has rescued 24 children being illegally transported through trains in the past month, traced 23 children separated from families and saved 11 persons who had attempted suicide on railway tracks.
