Take action if irregularities come to light at ration depots, minister tells officials

Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Rajesh Nagar today directed the officials to present a report regarding the ration depots, where any irregularity comes to light and take appropriate action.

He chaired the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting in Kurukshetra on Tuesday. As many as 17 complaints were listed for the meeting, of which 7 were resolved, while the remaining 10 were kept pending.

The minister, taking cognisance of the complaint from Sonu Narang, a resident of Ladwa, ordered that a response be sought within a week on the notices seeking explanation issued by the District Food and Supplies Controller to two Inspectors of the department regarding complaint related to the supplies of ration depots and submitting wrong reports. The minister said if the response was not satisfactory, the officials would face strict action.

The minister also ordered an investigation into a complaint related to a ration depot being run in the name of a person who allegedly died last year, and the department’s claim of having no information about the death.

After several irregularities came to light, the minister directed the members of the grievances committee to submit information about all the depots, where they find any irregularity, and a fair inquiry will be conducted through the SDMs concerned.

The minister also directed the officials of the Food and Supplies Department to provide all required documents to the SDM Ladwa for inquiry else action will be taken. He also issued directions in a complaint related to reopening of the culvert under the road between the fields, causing waterlogging in Shahabad.
