Take pledge to serve society, promote education: CM
Addressing a gathering at the state-level function held to commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of Mateshwari Ahilyabai Holkar at the Grain Market in Pipli today, CM Nayab Singh Saini said drawing inspiration from Holkar's life, the government was working towards the development of all sections of society.
He called upon people to take a pledge to serve society, promote education, and ensure equal rights for daughters.
He announced that a museum in the name of Holkar would be constructed on 2 acres, with the aim of educating and inspiring the younger generation about her life and legacy. Additionally, with the consent of the Pal Gadaria community, an entrance gate would be built in her name in a village or city. The CM also announced a grant of Rs 31 lakh from his discretionary fund to the Pal Gadaria Samaj Dharamshala in Kurukshetra.
Saini said, “Saints and great leaders are not only our invaluable heritage but also a source of inspiration. It is our responsibility to preserve and promote their legacy. Ahilyabai Holkar was not just a ruler, she was an example of 'nari shakti' who gave tax relief to farmers, promoted trade, and ensured equal opportunities for all sections of society. Like Holkar, we must commit ourselves to justice, development, and the preservation of our rich cultural heritage. Her life demonstrates that a woman embodies not only tenderness but also determination and leadership. She was a perfect blend of love and valour.”
Meanwhile, on the occasion of 'World No Tobacco Day', he urged people to take a pledge to choose health, service, and cultural values over tobacco, and to contribute to eradicating drug addiction from its roots to build a healthier society.
