According to the complaint filed with the police, a DHBVN team was deputed to investigate electricity theft in the village when they were attacked by a group of individuals. The assailants allegedly stole a mobile phone and cash from one of the team members too as they demanded to know why the team was conducting the inspection.

Jagdeep Rohilla, the SDO of DHBVN, informed the police a four-member team had gone to Pingor to address complaints of power theft when some villagers confronted them, insisting they stop and leave. When the team explained the inspection was routine, the situation escalated. Some of the residents began verbally abusing the team and then physically assaulted them.

The complaint further claims two of the attackers, identified as Shakil and his brother-in-law Salim, attacked one of the DHBVN staffers with a knife, causing injuries. The accused also allegedly snatched the victim's mobile phone and Rs 2,500. As the mob escalated the attack with sticks and other crude weapons, the team members were forced to flee for their safety and report the incident to higher authorities.

A case has been filed against 15 individuals for assault, threatening and obstructing government officials in the performance of their duties, according to a police official. While some of the attackers have been identified, many others remain unknown. Anil Kumar, SHO of Sadar Police Station, confirmed an investigation is underway and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the suspects involved in the attack.
