Test conducted peacefully in Kurukshetra

The Common Eligibility Test was conducted peacefully with 37,415 candidates appearing for the examination in four shifts over two days in Kurukshetra.

Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh informed that the examination on the second day was also conducted peacefully amid tight security arrangements. On the second day, 18,563 out of 20,572 candidates appeared for the examination in both sessions. In the first session, 9,309 out of 10,356 candidates appeared for the paper, while in the second session, 9,254 out of 10,216 candidates appeared for the examination. For CET, 41 examination centres were set up at 30 locations in the district.

Meanwhile, the Haryana police personnel were also seen helping the candidates reach their examination centres and ensuring tight security arrangements around the centres. The Haryana Police’s dial 112 emergency response vehicles (ERVs) and riders were seen cooperating with the candidates. During the examination, 25 teams of Dial 112 were deployed on duty.

Kurukshetra SP Nitish Agarwal said a candidate had reached the wrong examination centre and the entry was about to closed. Meanwhile, a rider of the Kurukshetra traffic police came to the rescue of the candidate and he was taken to his examination centre, which was about 4-km from there and ensure the entry of the candidate at the examination centre.

A Kurukshetra police spokesman said a woman candidate who had arrived from Delhi, was unable to locate her examination centre, following which she approached the emergency helpline and soon she was taken to her examination centre by an ERV. A girl, who was unwell, was also taken to a doctor and then brought back to the centre by the police team deployed at the centre. Over 10 candidates who were running late were also taken to their respective centres by the police personnel.

Nearly 400 police personnel were deployed for the CET examination in Kurukshetra to maintain security arrangements. Besides these, nearly 135 personnel were deployed on traffic duty to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the district.

Over 100 PwD (persons with disabilities) candidates were also assisted in reaching the examination centres from their residences. The candidates belonged to Pehowa, Shahabad, Jhansa, Ismailabad, and Ladwa areas of Kurukshetra.

Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh said, “All officers and employees worked with dedication and hard work for the conduction of CET in a smooth manner. The candidates and their families expressed satisfaction after seeing the arrangements made by the state government”.

Panipat: The CET was conducted peacefully in Panipat and Sonepat in both shifts on the second day on Sunday. In Panipat, the exam was conducted at 29 centres, while, in Sonepat, the exam was conducted at 58 centres. In Panipat, 79.28 per cent of the applicants appeared for the exam, while, in Sonepat, 91.98 per cent appeared for it.
