Thanesar MC employee held for accepting bribe of Rs 5,000
A team of Anti-Corruption Bureau, Ambala, has arrested an employee of the Thanesar Municipal Council for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a sanitation worker for marking his attendance, on Friday.
The employee was identified as Rajender Kumar, who works as sweeper-cum-Safai Daroga.
The complainant in his complaint to ACB stated that he had been working as temporary sweeper for the past 10 years, while Rajender had the duty of marking daily attendance of sanitation workers and maintaining their record.
The complainant said he was working under Rajender for the past three years. A few days ago, he along with his brother met Rajender regarding his absence from duty, and Rajender had sought Rs 5,000 to change his absent into present. “He also kept my ATM card with him and asked me to take it back after giving Rs 5,000. I sought a time of two days but I wanted to get him caught red-handed, hence I made a complaint to the ACB”, he added.
Following the complaint, a trap was laid and Rajender Kumar was held by the team of the Anti-Corruption Bureau red-handed while accepting bribe near the old bus stand in Kurukshetra.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act by Anti-Corruption Bureau, Ambala.
