Meena assessed the sanitation conditions at Mini Secretariat, New Mini Secretariat, Courts Complex and Circuit House. Later, he clicked pictures of garbage dump yards and forwarded those to officials concerned to show them the actual ground reality.

The DC directed the SDMs, Municipal Commissioner, executive officers and secretaries to inspect garbage dumps on a regular basis. The officials have been further told to upload pictures with GPS location on Swachhata App.

Later, the DC also visited a dumping ground being operated near Brahma Sarovar and directed the MC officials to find another location for the dump yard. Meena said “All efforts are being made to improve the sanitation conditions of Kurukshetra. With the support of residents, the sanitation conditions will be improved and the ranking of Kurukshetra will also be improved in Swachh Survekshan.” Responsibilities have been assigned to the teams of Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Urban Local Bodies, PWD (B&R), Forest Department, Irrigation Department, Animal Husbandry Department and Tourism Department. Apart from these, the general public, including Resident Welfare Associations, Market Associations and NGOs would work closely to improve sanitation.

Meena said the cleanliness pledge would be administered by holding meetings with schools, NGOs, shopkeepers and residents welfare associations at the district level. He said saplings should be planted in colonies, markets, schools, road sides and parks. Similarly, a campaign should be run to clean water reservoirs, ponds, lakes, canals and stormwater drains.
