Those making efforts to make Ambala drug-free will be honoured, says SP

Ambala Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria said sincere efforts were being made to make the district drug-free, adding that those playing a crucial role in this regard would be honoured.

Senior officials of the Ambala police, including the SP, DSPs and inspector-rank officers, have been visiting villages in the district to meet the representatives of the gram panchayats as part of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’.

Matheri Jatan and Behbalpur villages were declared drug-free on January 3. SP Bhoria also met the representatives of Bhari village of Friday and called upon residents to cooperate with the department in making the district drug-free.

The SP said, “Sincere efforts are being made by the police and action is being taken against the drug peddlers. Besides, awareness camps are being held to make people aware of the ill-effects of drug abuse. Matheri Jatan and Behbalpur villages were recently declared drug-free. The sarpanchs, who cooperate in the anti-drug campaign, will be honoured. The prominent people of the villages have assured us that they would continue to cooperate with the department and maintain the drug-free status.”
