Thousands take part in ‘run for nation’ flagged off by Haryana CM

Enthusiasm and zeal was witnessed among people from different walks when they began running with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Public Health and Engineering Minister Dr Banwari Lal, Kosli MLA Laxman Yadav and several other dignitaries during the half marathon, ‘A Run for the Nation’, organised in the city on Sunday.

Along with the marathon, a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ was also taken out on the same route. Later, the CM himself led the yatra which passed through Abhay Singh Chowk, Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Chowk, Colonel Ram Singh Chowk, before returning to Rao Tularam Stadium.

Earlier, Saini flagged off the Rewari half marathon at Rao Tularam Stadium and a considerable number of people participated in it. The CM also paid floral tributes to the portrait of martyr Rao Tularam and announced the installation of his statue at the stadium.

Saini also said steps were being taken at the administrative level to simplify the process of constructing a synthetic track at the stadium so that players at the district headquarters could have a better sports environment.

“Marathons and Raahgiri programmes are not only inspirational for social harmony but also for the improvement of health. Under the ‘Haryana Uday Outreach Programme’ run by the state government, such events are being organised. Today’s half marathon is dedicated to the glorious and inspiring life of great freedom fighter Rao Tularam and other valiant martyrs,” he said.

During the half marathon, the Chief Minister proudly held the national flag in his hand as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, inspiring the youth to move forward with new enthusiasm and energy.

He said until August 15, Tiranga Yatras were being organised across Haryana under this campaign, instilling a sense of patriotism in the people and taking a pledge to maintain national unity and integrity.
