Facing mounting pressure after the attack on Haryanvi singer and Bollywood rapper Rahul Fazilpuria, Gurugram Police have identified three suspects and detained one. Police have also recovered the white Tata Punch car used in the attack, which was reportedly taken on rent.

Fazilpuria, who survived a gun attack on July 14, has been provided police security and is currently confined to his home, sources said. Despite initial fears of gang involvement, police say none of the identified suspects have a criminal background, and are now also investigating the possibility of “self-orchestration” of the incident.

“We are looking at all angles. So far, nothing in the attack seems linked to Lawrence Bishnoi or his gang. The shooters identified are not professionals and have no criminal background. The attack appears well orchestrated — especially the chase and escape. We are not ruling out self-orchestration,” said a senior investigator.

Police sources added that Fazilpuria’s security had been withdrawn a few days ago despite his objections. He had earlier claimed threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which led to his security detail, later revoked. He had also been seeking an arms licence, which was reportedly denied.

Fazilpuria has requested police not to share his complaint details with the media and is currently not issuing any public statements. A close aide said: “Despite his resistance, the police had withdrawn his security cover recently.”

In the FIR, Fazilpuria recounted that the attack occurred around 5:50 pm on July 14, while he was driving from Behrampur to Southern Peripheral Road (SPR): “A white Tata Punch car overtook and intercepted me. A man wearing an orange scarf got out, pointed a gun at me. I drove in reverse, and he fired. The bullet hit a pole. The car fled towards SPR. I saw about four men inside,” he said.

Police managed to trace the vehicle using CCTV footage and recovered it. It had been hired from a rental service and used in the crime.
