Police deploy force in village; injured shifted to PGI, Chandigarh
Three persons, including a woman, sustained bullet injuries after villagers allegedly opened fire on them in Jathlana village of Yamunanagar district late on Saturday night. Police said the incident was linked to an old rivalry.
On the complaint of Tahir, a resident of Jathlana, a case has been registered against 17 persons under the Arms Act and various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Jathlana police station.
Tahir told the police that several men from the village opened fire on his family members. “My brother Bhura, sister-in-law Mehmuda and cousin sustained bullet injuries,” he said, adding that the attackers were also armed with axes and sticks. He further alleged that other members of his family also suffered injuries.
The injured were first taken to Civil Hospital, Yamunanagar, before being referred to PGI, Chandigarh, for advanced treatment.
Sandeep Kumar, SHO of Jathlana police station, confirmed that the situation was under control. “Police have been deployed in the village. The matter appears to be a result of an old rivalry,” he said.
