Three killed in head-on collision between car, truck in Ambala

In a tragic incident, three friends lost their lives when the car in which they were travelling collided with a truck on the Delhi-Ambala National Highway in Ambala Cantonment last night.

The deceased were identified as Virender Singh and Rahul, residents of Shahabad, and Ashok, a resident of Ambala. While Rahul used to work at a shoe showroom in Ambala, Ashok and Virender Singh used to run a cloth shop in Shahabad. As per available information, around 11 pm last night, Virender and Rahul were on their way to drop Ashok at Ambala when their car collided head-on with a truck near Sainik Rest House in Ambala Cantonment.

After getting information about the accident, a police team from the Lal Kurti police post reached the spot and cleared the traffic.

Police post in-charge Kuldeep Singh said, “The car was coming from the Shahabad side, while the truck was coming from Ambala. As per the people present on the accident site, the car driver, in order to save an animal, took a sharp turn and lost control over the vehicle. The car collided head-on with a speeding truck. The victims died on the spot. Both the vehicles have been seized and further action has been initiated.”

The bodies of the victims were shifted to the mortuary at the Ambala Cantonment Civil Hospital. A case has been registered at the Parao police station in this connection. Meanwhile, a video of the victims went viral on social media in which the three were seen listening to a song.

Parao police station SHO Devender Kumar said, “The matter is under investigation. The truck driver will be arrested soon. The bodies of the victims have been handed over to their respective families after a post-mortem examination.”
